Eunhye (Summer) Chu is an associate attorney who supports the firm’s team on issues involving international trade law and International Trade Commission (ITC) proceedings, including Section 337 investigations. A native Korean speaker with a diploma in Korean-English interpretation and translation, Summer is valued by clients and colleagues alike for her diligence in legal research and writing and multi-cultural perspective when serving a broad clientele.
Prior to joining the firm, Summer was a legal intern at Unified Patents, where she assisted with PTAB analytics, drafted papers involving IPR proceedings, and conducted a variety of patent and PTAB data searches, including prior art, to assist supervising counsel in setting licensing and litigation strategies. She was also a legal intern for the Department of Health, Office of the General Counsel, where she gained valuable experience in researching telehealth regulations in myriad states, assisted with proposing workable new telehealth laws for the D.C. area, and recommended new legislation involving animal control.
Moreover, Summer served as a student attorney for the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s office. In that capacity, she assisted supervisory counsel regarding pre-trial and sentencing hearing preparation, conducted client interviews and intake through jail visits, and researched and drafted memoranda on possible defenses in misdemeanor cases.
Notably, Summer worked in-house as a business professional prior to the law. She served as the Assistant Manager of Technical Sales for Samsung Electronics Co., LTD. focused on developing new business in the U.S. and European markets, managing key client accounts, coordinating project teams, and collaborating with attorneys and the IP team regarding contractual issues. Summer interfaced directly with the development, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop new products, as well as analyzed technical documents with an eye toward realizing ROI. In this position, Summer gained a comprehensive understanding of light-emitting diode, lighting fixtures, and semiconductor-based products.
